The simulated scenarios are controlled by the teaching staff from a room behind the one way mirror.
An audio-visual links allows us to record the scenarios for debriefing the team afterwards and to send the video feed to other rooms in the CSRC for other students to observe remotely.

SimMan is a medium fidelity whole patient simulator, who is computer controlled to reproduce clinical signs and symptoms and to respond to the learners actions.
The benefits of SimMan include:
• Educational effectiveness - through providing highly realistic patient simulation training experiences for the practise of teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
• Practise uncommon scenarios - practise in training the unusual cases that learner may face in real life.
• Anatomically realistic - enabling a wide range of emergency medical interventions to be practised.
• Interactive manikin which gives you immediate feedback to interventions.

This SDL room allows practice of skills such as venepuncture, IV cannulation, arterial blood gas sampling, injection techniques and skin suturing.

Our impressive Clinical Skills Resource Centre (CSRC) allows you to learn vital clinical and communication skills in a safe, supported environment before the pressure is on in a real clinical setting.
You will recieve a warm welcome at the CSRC Reception whenever you visit the faculty - whether it be for your 2-hour taught sessions, for some self-directed learning or for competence assessments.
