Anatomage Table
Plymouth became the first University in the South West to invest in the technology of a virtual dissection table.
There are currently only 16 of such tables in use in medical schools across the UK, the University of Plymouth has three tables.
The Anatomage Table is the most technologically advanced anatomy virtual dissection and visualisation system for anatomy education.

This room is well-equipped for a range of teaching styles, including examination couches for learning surface anatomy with model patients and peers.

to the Life Sciences Resource Center (LSRC)
In 2019 the LSRC underwent an expansion and modernisation project to meet an increase in student numbers.
Updates include:
A simulated ward with clinical examination bays. Students work with a team of Surface Anatomy Models to develop their palpation and communication skills in the simulated ward.
A student Self-Directed Learning (SDL) room, with laptops, a range of books and space for student-led group learning.
Four private meeting rooms, which students can use to meet with Academic and Pastoral tutors on a regular basis.
Teaching and learning rooms with multiple large touchscreen TVs, which link to the lectern PC to show presentations. These have the dual functionality of working independently as electronic drawing boards.
A set of 170 iPads for use within teaching sessions and for study within the LSRC.
A wide range of teaching resources, such as anatomical models, physiology equipment and other resources to promote learning.
Private cubicle changing facilities.
Students are encouraged to study beyond timetabled sessions and the LSRC is open until 8.30pm during the term-time to provide additional access. To help students plan their study time in advance we have an online booking system for rooms, examination bays and the Anatomage tables.

I was taught anatomy the traditional way using cadavers. While dissection can be a valuable learning opportunity it is common for inexperienced students to cut the structures they're looking for, or are not able to find them in the mass of tissue: the Anatomage Table solves this problem.
It also has the added benefits of being able to isolate a structure and look around it 360 degrees to understand how it interacts with the surrounding anatomy. There are also structures that are technicallly difficult to dissect out using traditional techniques, which can now be done in seconds with the touch of the screen.
